About Us

Who we are

Founded in response to the 2019 General Election, the Orthodox Conservatives are a grassroots movement of social conservatives who operate as a think tank and pressure network in the United Kingdom.

Galvanising the next generation of social conservatives, we are leading a cultural rejuvenation in Britain by making the case for social conservatism. To this end we propose alternative policy, influencing all politicians and particularly the Conservative and Unionist Party to return to a recognisable form of conservatism.

Our aim is to embolden and reintroduce social conservatism; removing any stigma that surrounds the principles of law and order; marriage and the family; community and civility; & beauty and tradition.

We are convinced that there is a cultural and political appetite for social conservatism in Britain. In an age of cancel culture and identity politics, the Orthodox Conservatives are committed to having free and open debate about ideas; and robustly defending conservatism in the public sphere.

Our current policy manifesto can be read here.

We have a dedicated and highly competent research team engaged in formulating and proposing policy ideas to government, making a compelling and electable case for social conservatism.

What we do

We aim to accumulate the largest and most active membership of social conservatives in Britain. In doing so, we strive to be their natural home and ‘safe space’ where they can discuss conservative ideas with other like-minded and principled individuals.

We aim to consistently make an intelligent and comprehensive case for social conservatism at a grassroots and government level.

Still growing, we are the largest network, pressure group, and the most potent think tank championing social conservatism in Britain today. Our friendship with other conservative organisations supplements our success in collaboration and partnership.

The Orthodox Conservatives seek to build consensus around ideas and engage with people about them through a variety of mediums, including reports, physical events, training and digital tools.

We are confident that by undertaking this mission, we can improve the social, cultural, and philosophical well-being of the British people.

Why we do it

The Orthodox Conservatives are convinced that the British people are inherently a [culturally] conservative people; and that they require the case for [electable] social conservatism being made to them. The Conservative Party is presently unable to do this coherently, as it does not reflect the political instincts of grassroots members or ordinary people.

Acknowledging this unfortunate reality, the Orthodox Conservatives are committed to the promotion and defence of socially conservative policies and solutions that impact our country and our place in the world.

At the heart of our work is the firmly-held belief that social conservatism is an entirely electable force in Britain and that conservatism is truly a sensible choice for ordinary people.

The Orthodox Conservatives are eager to provide an antidote to the culture wars and modern tendencies towards nihilistic Marxism, consumerism, and prescribed hedonism.

We firmly believe that ordinary British citizens are hungry for individuals who will accurately represent their views and opinions in the political arena and not weaken in their resolve to make themselves heard.

The Orthodox Conservatives will ensure that law-makers are aware of the cultural and social conservatism of ordinary people and promote policy that has their best interests at heart.
